UPDATED: 6:50am – A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for raping a 13-year-old girl in Lomaiviti. The incident happened in 2008 when the man and the girl were staying in the same village.

While sentencing the man, Suva High Court Judge Justice, Salesi Temo said that in a village old people are supposed to look after the younger ones but in this case it is the opposite.
The man can apply for parole after 12 years.
