Update: 6:44am – This after twenty six traders’ copped fines for failing to reduce fuel price following the announcement on Friday.
A team from the Commission was out in the field since Saturday morning to carry out inspections and they have visited more than 219 service stations, supermarkets and shops.
Chief Executive, Joel Abraham, says this should serve as warning to others who may be cheating on consumers.
“We want to send out a strong message to those unethical traders that if you are being unethical and if are engaging in such practices we will take you to task and for consumers we want you to also be informed, we want you to exercise your rights as consumers, we want you to know what the prices are because it is your right as a consumer to know, we want you to report any matter that you come across where price reduction are not being passed, report to us and we will investigate.”
The Commission will also send a team to the outer islands to carry out the inspections.
