Updated: 6:47am FASANOC has urged the government to release its funding earlier so that all sporting bodies have time to prepare athletes to deliver their utmost best in any international games.

President, Lorraine Mar made this comment after the government’s contribution to the association came in late as they were preparing for the recent Pacific Mini Games which ended last week in Vanuatu.

Mar says in order to be the best in the Pacific, our athletes need financial support on time to compete overseas and learn a higher standard of competition.

“We appreciate the funding but it comes a bit late. We could have done better at the Games have we had the preparation money earlier. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case at the recent games as the budget allocation for all the sporting bodies came in late.”
