Fiji Bati crush USA in opening RLWC match

Updated: 7:13am – The Vodafone Fiji Bati have begun their Rugby League World Cup campaign with a 58-12 thrashing of USA.

The Bati scored 11 tries while USA scored two.

Taane Milne scored Fiji’s first try in the 3rd minute while captain Kevin Naiqama scored the second try in the 6th minute.

Fiji scored another three tries through Taane Milne, Akuila Uate and Kane Evans.

Evans injured himself while scoring Fiji’s fifth try.

Matt Shipway scored USA’s first try in the 20th minute.

The Bati scored another two tries through captain Kevin Naiqama and star winger Suliasi Vunivalu to lead 36-6 at halftime.

Jarryd Hayne scored the 8th try for Fiji in the 45th minute while powerful forward Viliame Kikau scored the 9th try in the 59th minute. Vunivalu scored his second try in the 62nd minute while Henry Raiwalui scored Fiji’s last try in the 65th minute

.Junior Vaivai scored USA’s consolation the in the 72nd minute.

Fiji will now play Wales at ​9:30pm next Sunday.

In other results, PNG thrashed Wales 50-6 while New Zealand thrashed Samoa 38-8.The Fiji Bati thrashed USA 58-12 in their opening Rugby League World Cup match.
