The Employment Ministry is working closely with Film Fiji in ensuring compliance on labour laws in relation to foreign film production companies in Fiji
Employment Minister Parveen Kumar says to date his Ministry has worked with 70 foreign film companies through Film Fiji from January to August this year.
Kumar says they had meetings and discussions on employment contracts and employment-related matters through Film Fiji to ensure compliance with labour laws and better working conditions for all workers.
“My Ministry has been reviewing and had implemented procedures and mechanisms for dealing with all types of labour-related complaints reported to the Ministry. This also includes employers who engage local workers for film production in Fiji.”
Kumar says the production houses have their own human resources team that manages the employment issues.
He adds for the last financial year they’ve not received any labour non-compliance issues from anyone working with any foreign film production companies in Fiji.
