Fiji: Two road deaths in 24 hours

Two people have died in separate road accidents in the last 24 hours hours.

A 12 year old boy died at Vuninokonoko, Navua earlier today.

It’s understood the victim was riding his bike towards town when he was chased by a dog.

He swerved onto the road to try and avoid the dog, and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver also tried to swerve but could not avoid the accident.

An investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, a 32 year old carpenter of Vatuwaqa Suva died following an accident on Ovalau yesterday while travelling along Northern Road, Nasuku with four others.

The 24 year old driver is alleged to have lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road. The vehicle tumbled and the victim was pinned underneath.

He was rushed to the Levuka Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
