His comments come after a bus driver is seen in a video shouting at a primary school student and asking the student in a very rude manner to get off the bus.

The student had given the driver her bus fare voucher upon boarding the bus after 5pm.

Serious concerns have been raised regarding the attitude of the bus driver who is seen shouting at the top of his voice and also calling the Primary school student and her parent, cheats.

When questioned by Fijivillage, Maharaj stated the school time zone is from 8am to 4pm with children boarding buses from different places such as from 6am till sometimes 6pm.

However, Maharaj says other extra-curricular activities and extra classes may force students to board buses after 4pm.

He says as far as students are in the school uniform with the identified monogram, bus drivers should allow students to board the bus.

Maharaj says they have not seen the video that is circulating on social media and LTA Enforcement team will need to investigate the incident.

The LTA Chairman has also confirmed that LTA will organise a meeting with the Ministry of Education to clarify further in relation to their policy regarding the bus fare voucher.

Maharaj says drivers should treat students fairly and with respect,
