UPDATED: 9:14am – The President of the Fiji Rugby Union and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has announced the FRU will be bidding for a Fijian leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series to be played in Fiji.

Bainimarama made this announcement at the Fiji Rugby Union Dinner and Commemoration of the Gold Medal Victory Anniversary last night.

Olympic gold medal winning Fiji 7’s team playmaker Jerry Tuwai and the President of the Fiji Rugby Union and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the Fiji Rugby Union Dinner and Commemoration of the Gold Medal Victory Anniversary.

Bainimarama says the Fiji Rugby Union and Fiji will be making a strong bid. Bainimarama also says Fiji definitely has the facility to support its bid. Bainimarama has also asked every Fijian to support FRU’s bid.

He says they are launching Fijifor7s.com to allow everyone to show their support in the coming months.

Olympic gold medal winning Fiji 7’s team playmaker Jerry Tuwai says when he woke yesterday he had the feeling of winning in Rio all over again.

Fiji has won 17 Hong Kong Sevens titles since 1976, two HSBC Series in the last four years and two Sevens World Cups.
