Updated: 6:27pm – A local Santa Claus had the joy of welcoming two Christmas babies at the Labasa Hospital and brought smiles to the faces of patients who were unable to spend Christmas day at home with their families.

The Lions Club of Labasa visited the hospital and visited two Christmas babies born after midnight yesterday welcoming the babies with gift hampers and baby strollers.

Labasa Hospital recorded seven Christmas babies, where four are females and three males.

Club President Mohammed Rizwan says this is an annual project by the club, where they start collecting money from the beginning of December through donations and member contributions and buy gifts to distribute to patients and staff.

Rizwan says they also visited the residents of the Senior Citizen’s Home in Labasa and spent time with them and gave them gifts.

He has thanked the people who have contributed through donations and says the club spend about $1,000 dollars on gift and food items.
