UPDATED: 8:27am – More polls are needed to see if Jacinda Ardern will be New Zealand’s next Prime Minister.

The Labour leader has squeezed ahead of Bill English in the preferred Prime Minister stakes in the latest 1 News Colmar Brunton poll.

Her party has also sneaked past National now leading that particular poll with 43 percent support, as opposed to 41 percent.

Former Labour Party President Mike Williams is as surprised as anyone.

He says the Colmar Brunton poll is generally favourable to the right, and the survey period encompassed National’s campaign launch.
