Mr Sayed-Khaiyum reminded the receiving departments to look after the vehicles and while it was important to have the civil service and Police department equipped with right resources, they had to be responsible.

He said the vehicles would be fitted with GPS tracking devices through which the use of vehicles would be monitored.

Director of Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahesh Mishra said that the main objective of having motorcycles was to increase the visibility of Police officers on the roads.

He said that it would build confidence in the communities as far as the safety was concerned.

“The motor vehicles will be located throughout Fiji according to the Commissioner’s plan,” he said.

He said they needed the support and co-operation from the public and that the motorcycles were for their services.
