Updated: 6:42am – Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem is calling on the Fiji Times to make clarification on an article that was published on Saturday, which stated that the voting papers will be transported to Suva, where it would undergo a final count.

Saneem says that the incorrect article was written on the awareness drive that he conducted personally in Bua last week.

The Supervisor of Elections has clarified that the count at the polling station is final.

He says that there is no final count after the Presiding Officer has pasted the pink slip and conveyed the result to the Results Centre.

Saneem says that he is not interested in a page 2 small paragraph at the bottom clarification as this is a significant misrepresentation and they are liaising with the editors of Fiji Times about what they will do with regards to the issue.

He says that the election is this year and accurate information should be conveyed.

Saneem says that it is unfortunate that despite the Supervisor of Elections having very clearly stated that the counting at the polling station is final, the Fiji Times reporter has misrepresented his statement.
