Suva thumps Labasa, Dreketi holds Rewa

Updated: 8:28am – The Suva football side thumped Labasa 3-nil in the Vodafone Premier League match at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori last night.

The capital city side taught Labasa the lesson as they scored the three goals in the last quarter of the second half.

A mistake by Labasa defenders including goal keeper Akuila Mateisuva allowed Suva midfielder Shahil Dave get the first goal for the side.

Tevita Waranivalu and Sakaraia Naisua then scored a goal each in the later stage of the game.

Suva coach, Tuka Tisam says his side came into the with a plan and worked towards it.

“I’m very happy with the win. We risked and made some tactical changes in the second spell which paid us off.”

Captain, Simione Tamanisau, says he was confident of getting the three points in the game.

“We had already planned and came into the match to win. They boys did well played as a group and achieved the goal.”

In the match earlier, Dreketi held Rewa to a nil all draw.

Meanwhile, in the matches on Sunday, Suva plays Dreketi at 1.30pm while Labasa plays Rewa at 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

At Garvey Park at the same time, Tavua hosts Ba.
