Updated: 5:34am – The trial date for Registrar of the University of Fiji’s Kamlesh Arya has been confirmed for 2019.
Arya is charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss.
FICAC’s counsel, Francis Puleiwai asked for a hearing date in court yesterday.
High Court Judge, Justice Riyaz Hamza highlighted that his calendar is busy and has set the trial date from 4th February to 1st March, 2019.
The alleged offences occurred between January and December, 2014 while the accused was the Acting School Manager for Bhawani Dayal Memorial Primary School in Nasinu.
It’s alleged that Arya authorised loans amounting to $116,500 from the Free Education Grant provided by the Education Ministry to the primary school.
The matter has been adjourned to 26th March 2018 for mention.
