UPDATED: 9:38am – A revenge rape ordered by panchayat members in Pakistan’s Multan is met with the fury of campaigners when they learnt of the punishment. The 16-year-old girl was ordered to be raped in front of her family by a man whose sister was raped by the girl’s brother.
A village council known as jirga had ordered the rape of the teenage girl as punishment. And it was also learnt that the families of the two victims are related.
When the medical examinations were done on both the girl, the rape was confirmed after the mothers of the two minors filed complaints at the local police station.

Pakistani authorities have said that they have arrested 25 people from Multan linked to the crimes and the panchayat. One of most infamous case of revenge rape in Pakistan is of 28-year-old Mukhtar Mai, whose 12-year-old brother was accused of an affair with an older woman.
In 2002, she was ordered to be gang-raped but the courageous woman dragged her her rapists to court.
