2 Police officers suspended pending investigations into Salauca’s escape

Updated: 6:11am – Two Police officers have been suspended pending investigations into how Kelepi Salauca had escaped from their custody on Thursday.

This has been confirmed by Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu.

Tudravu says Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has also directed whoever was the team leader also be investigated and see if there was laxity on their part which led to the escape.

Salauca was arrested this morning by a taskforce team and was escorted back to the Totogo Police Station where he is still being questioned.

ACP Tudravu says a parallel investigation has been directed to those who have been harbouring him since his escape.

Meanwhile, Police continue to request information regarding escapee Deshwar Dinesh Dutt who escaped from the custody of Correction Officers on Friday.

Dutt escaped from the Nadi Magistrates Court and anyone who has information on his whereabouts is requested to call Crime Stoppers on 919.
