Updated: 6:30am – Two students have raised issues about the Fiji National University not having well-qualified lecturers with the Minister for Economy and Education Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum during the 2018‑2019 National Budget consultations yesterday.

They raised issues about lecturers with only degree qualifications teaching honours programs.

Responding to one of the students, Sayed‑Khaiyum said he also hears things about FNU and it appears that some people do not want expatriates to run FNU.

He says it appears these people want only Fijians to run the University.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says he disagrees with this and we should get the best people to run FNU.

Students also raised issues about problems they faced with accommodation and learning equipment.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the issues raised are being listed down and will be raised with the FNU administration.
