Updated: 6:28am – It will be a battle between the two top point scoring teams in the Rugby League World Cup as the Vodafone Fiji Bati get ready to face their toughest challenge New Zealand this weekend.
The Bati who currently lead the Kiwis in points and tries scored have landed in Wellington International Airport early this morning and were greeted by hundreds of fans.
Fiji still leads the 2017 Rugby League World Cup tries and points list with 168 points and 32 tries so far after playing the minnows in the game.
New Zealand is behind Fiji with 134 points and 25 tries. Kiwis coach David Kidwell has revealed that Fiji is a dangerous side that can score from anywhere. Kidwell adds that they are wary of what the Bati can do in the field.
Meanwhile, Bati winger Suliasi Vunivalu still leads the Rugby League World Cup try-scoring list with 8 tries while Michael Jennings of Tonga is second with 5 tries.
The Vodafone Fiji Bati will face New Zealand in the Rugby League World Cup at 7.30pm Saturday in Wellington.
Australia will play Samoa at 10.30pm Friday, Tonga will face Lebanon at 5pm Saturday while England will take on PNG at 6pm Sunday.
The winner of the Fiji and New Zealand match will play the winner of the Australia and Samoa match.
