Updated: 6:48am – A 24-year-old man convicted of rape has been sentenced to six years and nine months imprisonment by the Lautoka High Court.
The man raped his 28-year-old cousin on 15th October 2014 in Sigatoka.

Justice Aruna Aluthge stated that the man pulled and forced the victim into a van after she had come out of a nightclub and raped her inside the van.
He adds that the victim struggled, banged the van and screamed but no one came to her assistance.
Justice Aluthge says the man chose to satisfy his lustful demands without having any regards to the victim’s health and well being.
A non-parole period of six years has been set.
