Update: 6:09am – A 50-year-old man charged with raping his 46-year-old wife at a resort on Koro Island took the stand in the Suva High Court yesterday.
The man is charged with two counts of rape.
The alleged incidents took place on the 2nd and 3rd of July last year.
The woman who was the Manager of the resort is alleging that her husband, who is a casual employee of the resort had threatened her that he will cut her breast if she did not have sex with him.
However, the 50-year-old man told the court today that his wife arrived at 10pm on both the days and asked him to massage her body.
He told the assessors that after the massage finished on the 2nd of July, 2016, his wife asked him why he was staring at her.
The husband said that his wife then asked him to have sex with her.
The man then told the court that on the 3rd of July, 2016, he was again asked by his wife to massage her.
He says after the massage, his wife looked at him and asked what he was waiting for.
The man said that after he heard this, he understood that his wife wanted to have sex.
The husband told the court that he has not done anything bad to his wife in the last 14 years of marriage but only loved her.
The trial continues.
