600kg of plants believed to be marijuana estimated value of $2.3 million

Updated: 8:55am – Police have now confirmed that 600 kilograms of plants believed to be marijuana with an estimated value of $2.3 million was uprooted from the village of Rakiraki in Kadavu in the last two weeks.

Commissioner of Police Sitiveni Qiliho led a team of officers to Kadavu on Monday to commend the work carried out by the 11 police officers.

The 11 officers were deployed to Rakiraki two weeks ago for a special drug operation which led to the procurement of the drugs.

Qiliho also thanked members of the local community for guiding them to the plantations, helping with uprooting the marijuana plants and carrying it down the rough terrain.

Qiliho says several arrests have been made and they transported all the evidence back on Monday night.

Investigations are still underway.
