According to Paula Manumanunitoga, the general secretary of the Fijian Teachers Association, around 80% of early childhood education teachers in Fiji are contemplating leaving their jobs due to low pay.
Manumanunitoga emphasized that the government pays them very little, and as a result, many teachers are considering leaving the profession.
The union believes that the government needs to pay more to keep teachers.
There is a need for around 500 primary school teachers.
Manumanunitoga suggests that the government should increase pay to encourage teachers to stay.
He also emphasizes the importance of teachers remaining passionate about their work.
Also, teachers should keep their attitude the same due to government inaction.
