The mother of baby Mustafa Maheir Mukzameel Ali has expressed her love and condolences to her son, who died in a hospital after being taken unconscious. The baby was buried at Te Kūiti Cemetery, where a cross, flowers, and soft toys were laid. Mustafa’s mother, Tauvalea Law, took to Facebook to thank her family, friends, and everyone who attended his funeral. She described him as a happy and adorable boy, with a favorite cartoon movie being Cocomelon.
The funeral service occurred in a quiet, calm cemetery, with a song ringing out and people wearing T-shirts with Mustafa’s photo and angel wings on the front. Before the burial, loved ones gathered in a church in King County town. A video posted to social media showed Mustafa lying in a small, open basket, wrapped in a white lace blanket, and wearing a white suit and hat. A compilation of videos was played on a big screen, highlighting clips of the smiley boy, and framing photographs were laid around him.
The funeral comes a day after the baby’s father, Mukzameel Ali, admitted that he was responsible for some of the injuries his son suffered on the day of his death. Ali said what happened was “not intentional” and was “worried” about what might happen next. Police have not made an arrest, but Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley said both of Mustafa’s parents were talking to police.
Inconsistencies with statements regarding Mustafa’s injuries have been identified by Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley.
