Lauren Dickason, a convicted killer, is set to be sentenced for the murder of her three daughters In September 2021.
The murders took place at their home in Timaru, where the mother smothered each of her daughters. Dickason had pleaded not guilty to all three counts, claiming insanity and infanticide.
The killings occurred less than three weeks after the family had arrived in New Zealand from South Africa. Dickason has been undergoing psychiatric testing at Christchurch’s Hillmorton Hospital for several months while being remanded.
The sentencing was originally set for December but has been postponed multiple times due to queries about her sentence under the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act.
