Fiji has received $33 million from Australia to enhance its education infrastructure. The program will be based on a detailed infrastructure audit that evaluated 86 schools in Suva and Nausori to identify critical challenges like classroom overcrowding and maintenance needs.

The audit will assess the infrastructure needs of numerous schools, enabling better decision-making for supporting as many children as possible.

Professor Biman Prasad thanked the Australian Government for its support, which has been crucial in the recovery efforts.

The Australian Government provided approximately $56 million in grant funding for the Fiji Cyclone Disaster Recovery Program, focusing on rehabilitating nine schools and two health centers in rural and maritime areas.

All nine schools are nearly completed, and the next phase of the program, the rehabilitation of Taveuni and Kadavu Health Centres, is currently in progress.

In addition, at the launch event, Fiji and Australia presented 26 students from Jagindra Singh Primary School with the inaugural Vuvale Award in recognition of their significant and positive impact on the school community.
