A 38-year-old man in Tailevu, Latvia, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for two counts of rape.
The crime occurred when the victim was alone with her 12-year-old cousin, who was staying with an uncle.
The Suva High Court judge emphasized the severity of rape, stating that it is a humiliating and distressing crime.
The man spent 141 days on remand and will now serve 13 years and seven months, with a non-parole period of 11 years and seven months.
