Police have arrested two people after a search for a shoplifter alleged to have stolen over $13,000 worth of items led to the discovery of a clandestine meth lab in South Auckland.
The woman was responsible for targeting multiple retailers and stealing over $13,000. Officers initially searched an address in Manurewa but discovered a suspected clan lab instead.
One person was taken into custody, and a scene examination was conducted.
Police later searched an address in Papatoetoe and an alternative address in Māngere, where the alleged offender was found hiding on the top story of an apartment building.
A 58-year-old man was remanded in custody and will appear in Manukau District Court on July 24.
A 19-year-old female will appear in Manukau District Court today charged with multiple counts of shoplifting.
