A single-vehicle crash in east Auckland has left one person hospitalized with serious injuries.

The incident, which occurred at around 12.15 am on Sandspit Rd in Cockle Bay, saw a rapid response from Fire and Emergency (FENZ) and St John, providing immediate assistance.

The person was trapped in the car, but crew members freed them.

They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle was towed, and inquiries into the crash’s circumstances are ongoing.

St John received the call at 12:15 a.m. and arrived at the crash site at 1 a.m.

The ambulance service was notified at 12:16 a.m., and the patient was triaged as non-life or limb-threatening. At 12:47 a.m., the incident was upgraded, and an ambulance was dispatched, arriving at the scene within 14 minutes.
