A house fire in Hokitika has resulted in the death of one person.
Emergency services responded to the blaze at Hoffman St around 9 pm, but the unresponsive person was found dead.
The fire is being treated as unexplained, and a fire investigator is expected to arrive today.
A scene guard was in place overnight, and further inquiries will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
