The Bua Provincial Council has endorsed the need for a border control system or mini police post at the Nabouwalu Jetty in Fiji due to concerns about drug transportation and trade through the country’s ports.

Council Representative Tomasi Robakanakadvu argues that drugs can enter the country undetected without a security system at the Nabouwalu port.

Deputy Police Commissioner North Kemueli Baledrokadroka believes the K9 Dog Unit is the only viable solution for the North.

Still, the K9 Dog Training Unit in the North was unsuccessful due to certain factors.

The Fiji Police Force is working on securing land to establish the unit in the Northern Division, while the Fiji Police are monitoring drug hot spots in Vanua Levu.
