A house fire on the Kapiti Coast has resulted in one person dying and a second in critical condition.
The incident occurred at an Ōtaki property on State Highway 1 at about 11 pm on Sunday, and the initial report from fire investigators indicates the fire was not suspicious.
Further investigations are being conducted to determine the cause, and the death will be referred to the Coroner.
