UNAIDS has reported that a significant number of HIV patients in Fiji are not receiving treatment, a trend that has been deemed concerning.
In Fiji, last year, 415 new HIV cases were recorded, with less than 30% of these cases or 125 patients receiving treatment.
The report highlights the persistent social and structural factors driving people away from HIV services and calls for increased HIV treatment accessibility.
UNAIDS Regional Director Eamonn Murphy is calling for a comprehensive approach to combat the HIV epidemic and urgent investment in prevention and community leadership to combat the surge in cases.
