The Suva Magistrates Court granted bail to former Fijian Broadcasting Corporation CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Chief Financial Officer Vimlesh Sagar.
Sayed-Khaiyum is charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss, while Sagar is charged with one count of general dishonesty causing a loss.
The case involves Sayed-Khaiyum initiating five legal proceedings without FBC board approval, resulting in a gain of $138,813 between July 2017 and January 2023.
Sagar is accused of pursuing legal cases not in the interest of FBC, resulting in a loss of $138,813.37 cents.
The two have been released on $5000 non-cash bail with two sureties. The case has been adjourned to August 26th.
