A woman named Jo Sione-Lauaki was found dead near a Northland beach in unexplained circumstances.
She was reported missing after not returning home on Thursday night.
Her body was discovered by a member of the public around 2 pm, and her vehicle was later found near the beach’s public toilets.
The scene was cordoned off while forensic examinations were conducted, and a post-mortem examination is currently underway.
The death is being treated as unexplained, and investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding her death and the discovery of her body.
Anyone who saw a woman wearing a green puffer jacket north of Omamari Beach between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. on August 2 is urged to contact the police.
