Four men have been apprehended following a terrifying armed robbery of a Far North store

Four men have been arrested following an armed robbery of a Far North electronics store in Waipapa, New Zealand.

The incident occurred on 4 August when a group of men entered the store and ordered them to the ground.

He then fired a shot over their heads, allegedly smashed display cabinets, assaulted a staff member, and fled with stolen items. The man, who did not want to be named, initially thought it was a bad-taste prank.

But when the men entered the store shouting and brandishing an axe and a long-barrelled rifle. Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Fouhy of Northland police said a group of offenders entered the store armed with weapons, threatening staff and customers.

Three of the men, aged 16, 20, and 23, were charged with aggravated robbery. A 37-year-old was charged with receiving stolen property.

All four were remanded in custody and are due to appear in the Kaikohe District Court on Wednesday morning.

The public’s help is still needed as two people involved in the robbery have yet to be identified. Police are still looking for the getaway vehicle. The vehicle was a black Mazda saloon, registration FDD437.
