Fiji Airports has completed the upgrade of runway pavement at Rotuma Airport ahead of schedule. The project was completed over two weeks and handed over by Flame Tree Development.
The project included landslip remediation, runway shoulder resealing, and fence upgrades.
The Rotuma Island Council, seven chiefs, and traditional owners attended the project’s completion.
Fiji Airports recently announced a $10 million investment for runway pavement maintenance at five of its 14 outer island stations, including Rotuma.
The company will continue negotiating with the government for additional funding to enhance facilities at outer island airports and Nausori.
