The Civil Aviation Authority was alerted at 4:10 p.m. on Sunday. Fire and Emergency NZ confirmed the fire was extinguished when emergency crews arrived.

The plane landed safely, and the passengers disembarked, jumping from the emergency doors.

Multiple flights were diverted from landing in Wellington, but the airport is not closed, and the runway has reopened.

Flights will soon return to their regular schedule. The cause of the incident is unknown, and disruptions to flights in Wellington are expected.
