Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Professor Biman Prasad has received a list of public enterprises.

For many years, these enterprises have not produced their audited reports on time. The Finance Minister expressed disappointment.

He stated that the previous administration could have been better for not producing annual reports and audited accounts in the country’s history.

He highlighted an example of Attorney General Graham Leung having to present the AG’s Office report from 2006 in Parliament.

The Chair of the Public Accounts Committee has recommended that Ministers and Permanent Secretaries consider getting their reports on time.

Prasad believes this will improve the accountability of state-owned enterprises.

The government is open to further reforms, privatization, and models that do not distort economic competition.
