An apartment fire in Hamilton resulted in one person being taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Emergency services were called to the Whitiora property at 11.20 pm.
Two people were involved; one needed help from the building, while the other was accounted for.
Four fire trucks, three support units, and a fire investigator were called to the scene.
Inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances.
