The Fiji Police Force recorded 635 theft cases in July. Three cases involving over half a million dollars and six employees of three outlets.

The overall crime rate increased by 52% compared to 2023 and 17% compared to June, primarily related to theft, assault, and burglary.

Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew reported a 52% increase in assault cases.

347 were recorded in July 2024 compared to 251 in the same period last year.

Additionally, the amount of illegal narcotics rose by 42%, with 188 drug instances reported in July 2024 compared to 132 in the previous year.
