Updated: 6:07am – Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum paid a courtesy visit to the Lautoka Hospital after an early morning fire that damaged the old operating theatre.
Sayed-Khaiyum says he is happy to note that no lives were lost during the incident.
“Just thankful that nobody got hurt and I would like to commend the staff because a lot of them I met have been here since midnight last night and have not gone home. One of them told me that they had gone home changed and came back and I would like to thank them for their assistance and dedication.”
Sayed-Khaiyum also confirmed investigation is already underway to ascertain the cause of fire.
FBC News visited the hospital this morning and noticed that the Special Outpatients’ Services, X-ray services and general services are temporarily closed until further notice.
