That sends them back to an intercontinental playoff in the capital, where they advanced against Bahrain in 2009 and lost to Mexico in 2013.

Coach Anthony Hudson is just pleased to advance, after releasing some of his top players and moving others out of position.

He said he was really questioning how the game would pan out but he’s pleased to get the overall win.

“I was sort of really questioning how that would happen in the game, but I think it was a tough game but in the end I was pleased just to get a point on the road and get through to the final.”

New Zealand will host the first leg against the fifth ranked South American team, expected to be on either the 10th or 11th of November.
