Updated: 10:10am – Airports Terminal Services Board Chairman Riyaz Sayed Khaiyum is pleading to ATS workers who are on strike to go back to work but he has stressed to them that they have to admit that their strike was illegal.
During a press conference, Riyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum said the management and board of ATS are duty bound to act in the best interest of the company at all times and that is why they insisted on this signed letter to ensure that another damaging and illegal stop work action did not reoccur in the future.
While responding to various claims made by unionists and politicians at the march in Nadi, Riyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum has raised the question on why politicians have jumped on this issue now.
He adds that operations at the airport continue as normal.
Meanwhile, copies of the dividend payout since 2005 was provided today to members of the media.
Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that unions claim that the Cost of Leaving Adjustments was not being paid out for several years, there was no pay increment and ATS did not pay dividends to ATSET.
He adds that more than $5.7 million in dividends have been received by ATSET on behalf of beneficiary ATS staff since 2005.
