Ba is the first team to qualify for the IDC semifinals

Updated: 7: 56am – Ba is the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the Courts IDC at Churchill Park after day 2 with 2 wins after 2 games.

Ba defeated Rewa 2-1 to stamp its mark in the IDC.

Maveliko Nakama opened the scoring in the 36th minute of the first half.

Rewa came back strongly in the second half and scored in the 6th minute but 4 minutes later Samuela Nabenia scored the winner for the Men in Black.

The Ba soccer team has come into this tournament as a changed and improved side with young players like Kishan Sami and Nabenia featuring in well.

The pool is still open for the second team to go into the semifinals with Ba.

Ba has 6 points after 2 games and will face Dreketi, who surprised all by holding the defending champions Labasa 0-0.

Dreketi will have to beat Ba and hope the other results go in their favour to qualify for the semifinals.

Rewa has 3 points and needs a draw against Labasa to qualify for the semifinals while Labasa is in a must-win situation having only one point after 2 matches.

In other matches, Tavua shocked star-studded Lautoka side 1-1 as this pool has become wide open.

Tavua will need to beat Suva to qualify for the semifinals while a draw for Suva could take them through after the Whites defeated Nadi 3-0.

Lautoka will face Nadi and will need a draw to book a semifinal spot while Nadi will need to win by a big margin and hope the other results go in their favour.

The premier division games will kick off at 2pm today with Suva facing Tavua, Ba will take on Dreketi at 4pm, Labasa will face Rewa at 6pm while hosts Lautoka will play Nadi in the last pool match at 8pm.
