Updated: 10:12am – A big fan of the Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is his dad, Sayed Khaiyum.
Mr Khaiyum will not miss a debate in Parliament especially when it features his son.
On Thursday he was in Parliament to hear Mr Sayed-Khaiyum deliver a powerful right of reply in the debate over the President’s address during the ceremonial opening of Parliament.
He was at the public gallery when National Federation Party MP Prem Singh mentioned his name during a heated exchange with Mr Sayed-Khaiyum.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum objected, as a point of order, against the use of his father’s name. The Speaker, Dr Jiko Luveni, upheld the point of order and ordered Mr Singh to withdraw the reference to Mr Khaiyum.
Mr Khaiyum was a prominent National Federation Party Member of Parliament when the party was strong; and was chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
