Fiji has recorded its first death this year due to leptospirosis.

This has been affirmed to FBC News by the Health Minister, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

Dr Waqainabete says a youthful Fijian spent away a week ago at the Lautoka Hospital and another patient remaining parts conceded in basic condition.

The Minister says while this is something they are pitiful about, the quantity of cases stay low when contrasted with earlier years.

“There is one who is truly sick. We’ve quite recently started to get two instances of Leptospirosis in the North.
