A former Fiji citizen is dead after being shot near his home at San Bernardino in the United States on Monday night.
CBS Los Angeles reports that Nitesh Kumar, a reservist for the US Army, was shot outside an apartment after dropping off a co-worker.
Kumar’s family, who came to the scene of the shooting, said he had been dropping off a coworker to make sure he got home safe.
It is understood that it was Mr. Kumar’s dream to be an army reservist, and though his family was initially afraid of him being deployed, they supported his goal.
Neighbors say they heard gunfire – six or seven shots in quick succession that sounded like firecrackers – just before 11 pm Monday. A short time later, an unfamiliar man was found dead on the ground.
CBS Los Angeles also reported that police did not have a description of the shooter or a related car.
