“I think there’s a lot of work that we can do between New Zealand and Fiji to strengthen Fiji’s ability to take advantage of some of those opportunities. And we in New Zealand have a track record of doing well to be able to share some of that experience with Fiji and help that side of things lift up”.

Meanwhile, a week-long mission aimed at strengthening strategies to maintain a link and trade between businesses in New Zealand and Fiji is currently underway in Suva.

President of the New Zealand-Fiji Business Council, Chandra Sen says a group of trade experts are in the country and are keen to explore Fiji’s investment and trade opportunities.

“So we have brought a business mission to Fiji and this is our fifth year in a row where we brought business mission. And this time around the difference is our Minister for Trade accompanied us to give support and shows the commitment New Zealand has to do business with Fiji”.

Fiji’s current trading relationship with New Zealand sits at $1m with an aim of exceeding $2m as part of the objective with external stakeholders by 2025.
