Improving the well-being of Fijians in rural and maritime areas is one of the key priority areas for the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development.
This was highlighted by the Minister responsible Dr. Mahendra Reddy while launching the Ministry’s annual costed operational plan in Keiyasi, Navosa last Friday.
“Strategic Priority area is raising living standard and growing the rural and maritime economy. Basically, the objective is to raise the living standards of every households in the rural and maritime area. And to do that we need to expand, we need to grow the rural and maritime economy”.
The Minister says that the infrastructure status of many rural dwellers have made them vulnerable to natural hazards.
This is an area the Ministry is trying to address by improving coordination and facilitation during natural disasters operations.
