FIJI NEWS: Two Fiji rugby stars arrested for flouting coronavirus isolation rules

Two Fiji rugby players have been captured for disregarding coronavirus self-seclusion rules with specialists impacting their “unreliable and unsuitable” conduct.

The players have not been named however AFP reports the Fiji Rugby Union affirmed they were experts. Neighborhood media announced them to be sevens players and internationals.

“For those of you that have decided not to regard the compulsory multi day self segregation, disgrace on you and every one of you will have your moment of retribution,” Fiji Rugby’s elite chief and previous worldwide Simon Raiwalui posted on Facebook at the end of the week.

Executive Frank Bainimarama felt the players had put “the entire of Fiji in danger”. He said one player, who showed up from Singapore, “had a high danger of introduction to the infection while abroad” and afterward got away from disconnection in a Fiji medical clinic.

“Unfortunate for him he was unable to step his way past our Fiji police power. He has been captured and is in detachment at Nadi medical clinic,” Bainimarama said.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor said they would take “suitable disciplinary activities against the expert rugby players, including announcing this profoundly unreliable conduct to their clubs and World Rugby”.

“The Fiji rugby family needs to put on record our extraordinary frustration at the flippant conduct of these two players putting their families and different Fijians in danger,” O’Connor said.

“Such reckless conduct is absolutely unsuitable, and we bolster the activities of the police in capturing these two players and any further activity taken against them.”

Fiji are the Olympic sevens victors subsequent to winning the debut gold award at Rio 2016.

They are third in the present world arrangement which has been required to be postponed in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
